Over 200 police personnel stationed at one place for more than 3 years across Coimbatore city transferred

Among those transferred are 76 special Sub-Inspectors and 97 Head Constables, primary and secondary guards and 15 personnel from the Intelligence Services.

Coimbatore: The Coimbatore City Police Commissioner, V Balakrishnan has ordered the transfer of police personnel who have served in the same place for three to five years.

There are about 2,200 police personnel comprising four Deputy Commissioners, more than 12 Assistant Commissioners, more than 35 Inspectors, Sub-Inspectors, Special Sub-Inspectors and Constables under the Coimbatore City Police Commissioner.

Generally, in the case of the police force, it is customary for persons who have served in the same place for more than three years to be transferred. Similarly, even during elections, it is customary for transfers to be done depending on the situation at that time.

Accordingly, even though constables in Coimbatore City Police have been transferred, it is alleged that some are working in the same place even after three years. It has been alleged that there could be a possibility of such personnel engaging in favour of the ruling party for personal gains.

In particular, following complaints that those who have completed 10 years are still working in one place, the City Police Commissioner V Balakrishnan has directed the Deputy Commissioners to transfer police personnel who have been working at the same place for more than three years.

Accordingly, a list of police personnel working in one place for 3 to 5 years was prepared and in the first phase, more than 200 policemen have been identified and transferred.

According to the City Police, "For more than three years in non-intelligence units, a total of 202 constables, ranging from special Sub-Inspectors to Constables who have served in the intelligence services for more than five years in one place, have been transferred. Accordingly, 202 police personnel in the city police have been transferred on Wednesday (July 6). This includes 76 special Sub-Inspectors and 97 Head Constables. The rest are primary and secondary guards. In particular, 15 personnel from the intelligence agencies have been transferred."
