Due to the fishing ban period in Kerala, the price of marine big fish has gone up considerably. According to traders, fish prices are likely to come down after two weeks.
Coimbatore: Even as the fishing ban period ended in Tamil Nadu, the fishing ban period has begun in Kerala.
Vanjiram is being sold for Rs.900 at the Wholesale Fish Market in Lorrypet, Coimbatore. While the prices of marine fish have gone up considerably, the prices of marine small fish, including sardines have come down considerably. Dam fish are being sold at Rs. 50-100 per kg in katla roku prices.
As a result, the prices of fish have increased even after the fishing ban period ended in Tamil Nadu due to the export of big fish caught in the coastal areas of Tamil Nadu to Kerala.
The price of dam fish has dropped considerably to the joy of non-vegetarians. According to the fish traders, the current situation will continue for more than two weeks and then the price of fish is expected to drop.
