Coimbatore: Traffic on the Coimbatore-Pollachi road was disrupted after tipper trucks collided head-on near Kurichi tank in Sundarapuram in Coimbatore and overturned on the road.
A tipper lorry heading towards Ukkadam collided head-on with a tipper lorry heading towards Sundarapuram, near Kurichi tank in Sundarapuram in Coimbatore, on Thursday morning. The accident occured in the wee hours of the morning and both tipper trucks overturned on the road. The drivers of the trucks, Meghanathan and Senthil Kumar, who were travelling in the trucks, sustained serious injuries in the accident. Another person escaped with minor injuries while the two trapped in the truck were rescued by locals after a long struggle. The two were later sent to the hospital for treatment.
Traffic in the area was affected since the trucks had overturned on the road. Following this, the Fire Department and the police cleared the two trucks with a JCB machine and then traffic was restored.
