The Delhi-Thiruvananthapuram Express train rammed into two cows that were trying to cross the railway track near Podanur.
Coimbatore: Two cows were killed on the spot when a train rammed into them while the cows were trying to cross the tracks near the Madukkarai flyover railway bridge in Coimbatore.
Near the Coimbatore Podanur-Palakkad railway track, closer to the Madukkarai flyover, cows usually are left to graze. When two of the cows were attempting to cross the railway track on Tuesday evening, the Delhi-Thiruvananthapuram Express rammed into the cows. While one cow was thrown away from the railway tracks and died, another cow got stuck in the train engine and died.
Railway staff with the help of the public had to drag the body of the trapped cow away from the engine. Due to the accident, the train was halted for a long time at the spot.
