Coimbatore: Ajay, a native of Kerala, died at the Government Hospital in Coimbatore after the roof of the ongoing construction of an indoor stadium caved in at Noorset Matriculation School in Kuniyamuthur area of Coimbatore.
Another person involved in the accident, Ramesh, is undergoing treatment at the Coimbatore Government Hospital after being injured on his head and leg.
Noorset Matriculation Higher Secondary School is functioning on Puttuvikki Road, Kuniyamuthur, Coimbatore. The construction work of setting up an indoor stadium in the school premises was underway for the past few days.
Even as the construction of the roof with iron rods was being carried out by a JCB machine, the roof caved in with a loud noise.
Two of the workers sustained serious injuries and were immediately rushed to a nearby private hospital for treatment. Thereafter, they were shifted to the Coimbatore Government Hospital.
