The rainfall in the catchment areas of Siruvani, in particular, has been recorded as 66 mm. The total capacity of the dam is 49.53 feet and the water level in the dam has risen from 5.6 feet 15 days ago to 18.04 feet till now. The water level rose by 2.5 feet in a single day, on Tuesday.
According to the Meteorological Department, the rains are expected to continue for a few more days and the water level in the Siruvani dam is expected to reach its full capacity. On the orders of the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, valves have been opened and regular water supply is being provided.
