Coimbatore: Thousands of people participated in the Chithiramezhi Ponner sapling planting festival in Coimbatore and planted saplings and worshipped Lord Pattina.

Every year in the month of Aani, thousands from the Devendra Kula Vellaalar Samaj is celebrating the Aani Thirumanjanam Chithirai Mezhi Ponner seedling planting festival at Perur near Coimbatore.
The Devendra Kula Vellalar community people all over Tamil Nadu celebrate this planting ceremony as a festival.

The festival is being celebrated on the basis of the legend that Perur Patteeswarar and Pachanayaki Uzhavan, also known as Melai Chidambaram, took the form of a plough and planted seedlings and cultivated by the Lord himself.
Accordingly, this year's planting ceremony was held under the leadership of the four dynasties of the society.
Thousands of people participated in the event by ploughing with cows and chanting the Meladaals in the presence of Lord Patti Peruman and planting the seedlings and worshipping them.
