In spite of widening roads, parking of vehicles on the roadside has left motorists in long traffic jams in Pollachi town.
Coimbatore: Heavy traffic jams are being witnessed inside Pollachi town due to vehicles parked on the roadsides of main roads like Pollachi-Coimbatore Road, Palakkad Road and Udumalai Road though widened, with road dividers.
Coimbatore Road Junction, Palakkad Road Junction and Palladam Road Junction have roundtanas constructed to facilitate vehicular traffic and have also been widened.
Yet, these roads continue to seem narrow due to the parking of four-wheelers and two-wheelers in the areas where the road has been widened.
Due to this, not only motorists on the way to school, college and work but also buses are facing traffic snarls.
Although traffic cops have been deployed at the main junction areas, due to the lack of proper action against vehicles parked on roadsides in violation of rules, traffic jams have become the norm in Pollachi town. Hence, the public has demanded that action be taken by imposing fines against the vehicles parked in violation.
