While the road widening work has been completed, the work of surveying the road for the construction of a toll in the Eluru Pirivu area is currently underway. The people of the area will send a letter to the Chief Minister requesting him to take steps to ensure that their normal life is not established as their normal life will be affected if the toll plaza comes up.

Coimbatore: The public will send a letter to the Chief Minister requesting him not to have a toll plaza on the Coimbatore-Pollachi highway.

In 2016, the Coimbatore-Pollachi highway was widened and a toll plaza was constructed. At that time, when the public agreed to the expansion of the road, there were strong objections to the construction of a toll plaza.

The road widening work has been completed and now the work of measuring the road for the construction of a toll in the Eluru Pirivu area is being carried out. The people of the area are sending a letter to the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister requesting him to take steps to ensure that the toll plaza is not set up, saying that their normal life will be affected if the toll plaza comes up.

A copy of the letter was also handed over to the Coimbatore district collector. They said they had already informed the district collector at the gram sabha meeting about the toll issue and if a toll plaza was set up there, normal life would be affected and agricultural lands would be affected.

The toll plaza will be located at a distance of 8 km from coimbatore corporation. It is a violation of the provisions of the law, they said.
