Coimbatore: Rotary Club of Coimbatore West organised the 'Mega Tree Plantation' drive on July 1 as part of an initiative to plant around 20,000 trees at Peedampalli Temple Land.

The Panchayat President, Kumaravel has supported the initiative by arranging for a water source to maintain the saplings.

The Chief Guest K Anandh, IFS (Conservator of Forests and Lecturer, Govt. of India) who along with six other Rotary Club Presidents and Secretaries, including Metro Dynamics, Industrial City, Monarchs, Sai City, Vadavalli contributed to the event.

The 33-acre Peedampalli Temple Land The Panchayat President is working with the HR&CE Department and other Government Departments to convert the 33-acre Peedampalli Temple Land into a complete 'Green Patch.'

Even as 10 acres have been converted, the Rotary Club of Coimbatore West has planned to plant 20,000 saplings in the 'Miawaki' method in seven acres of the land. The Panchayat President is also working with HR&CE to build a tank, herbal garden and grow revenue-yielding trees for the Panchayat as directed by the HR&CE.
