Residents of Madukkarai market area in Coimbatore held placards saying 'No TASMAC shop' to protest against the new TASMAC shop coming up in their area.
Coimbatore: A petition has been filed at the District Collector's office against the TASMAC shop to be set up in Madukkarai market area.
Residents of Madukkarai market area in Coimbatore have urged people not to shop in TASMAC shops in their area as a mark of protest against the TASMAC shop coming up in their area. They submitted a petition at the Coimbatore district collectorate.
When they came to submit a petition, they held up banners saying no to liquor shops and protested.
Speaking on the occasion, the people of the area said that while there are apartments, bus stands, hospitals, weekly markets in the area, if TASMAC shops are set up there, it will be very disturbing for the public.
They insisted that women and school and college students would find it very difficult to come and hence they did not want a TASMAC shop. They were also angry that under this regime, TASMAC shops would be set up inside their homes.
