Singanallur Police Station Special Sub Inspector Shanmugam who did not investigate the complaint properly was suspended on the orders of the Police Commissioner.
Coimbatore: A Special Police Sub Inspector who did not properly investigate a complaint in Singanallur, in Coimbatore has been suspended on the orders of the Police Commissioner, V Balakrishnan.
Krishnan (40) from Coimbatore works in a private mill and is reported to be mentally disturbed due to no work. He had also got into a dispute with a person living near his house. Following this, Krishnan went to Coimbatore to lodge a complaint with the Singanallur police.
Later, Krishnan went to the Grievance Camp held at the District Collectorate and complained that the police had not received his complaint.
En route to the Collectorate, Krishnan consumed cow dung powder and hence when the police inquired of him after finding him weak, it was revealed that he had consumed cow dung powder. Following this, the police immediately rushed him to the Government Hospital.
Since Krishnan's complaint was neglected by the police officer on duty and was not investigated, and hence had led him to attempt suicide, the Special Sub Inspector Shanmugam on duty has been suspended on the orders of the Police Commissioner.
The police have also registered a case against Krishnan for attempting suicide.
