Rathnapuri police arrested a man on charges of assault under the Prevention of Violence Against Women Act.
Coimbatore: The police have arrested a man in Coimbatore for eve-teasing and assaulting a woman who was walking on a road in Rathinapuri area.
The 38-year-old woman who is employed as a cook in the area was reportedly returning from work when she was teased with obscene language and assaulted by Praveen (33), a supervisor in a private company while following her on a motorcycle.
Praveen allegedly got into an argument with the woman, verbally abused her and pushed her down. The woman lodged a complaint at the Rathinapuri police station. Following the complaint, the police filed a case against Praveen under Assault and Prevention of Violence Against Women Act and arrested Praveen. He was later produced in court and remanded in custody.
