Coimbatore: Railway Workshop (SRMU) workers staged a protest demanding that vacancies be filled and basic amenities be provided.
Workshop Staff (SRMU) at Railway Workshop on Coimbatore Good Shed Road to fill the vacancies in Railway Workshop, Demonstrators insisted on demands including the need for basic amenities.
Led by Coimbatore Divisional Branch Secretary John, the demonstration was attended by more than 50 people chanting slogans.
Addressing the gathering, Divisional Secretary John said that due to shortage of manpower, senior officers should take action to fill the vacancies. He said the private train was operating without enough people.
He said that basic facilities like toilet facilities and drinking water facilities should be made available in the railway workshop.
As no action has already been taken to request the higher officials in this regard. He also demanded that the government comply with their request immediately.
