Coimbatore: Radhakrishnan, Principal Secretary, Co-operation, Food and Consumer Protection Department, inspected fair price shops in Coimbatore.

He inspected various places in Coimbatore on behalf of the Department of Food Supply.
He inspected a Ration shop in Peelamedu area. He then inspected the quality of the materials there and tested the biometric equipment there. He also asked the public about the quality of goods offered at Ration shops and whether the facilities there are adequate.

The public submitted their Grievances to him. They said that mainly the biometric device does not work often and thus it is very difficult for many people including the elderly to get the products.
He told them that action would be taken to rectify this. He also told the staff to give receipts of some kind and make a note of it in a notebook and give the goods if the biometric tool sometimes does not work for the elderly.

The public of the area tried to pay respect to him by covering him in a silk shawl, which he dutifully passed it to an elder person near him and shawled him. District Revenue Officer Leela Alex and government officials were present during the inspection.
