Coimbatore District Collector G S Sameeran has announced that the by-elections for the posts of Grama Panchayat President and Grama Panchayat Ward Member will be held on July 9 as a single phase for rural local bodies.
Coimbatore: The by-elections for the posts of Grama Panchayat President and Grama Panchayat Ward Member is to be held on July 9 in Coimbatore.
The press release issued by the District Collector, G S Sameeran stated, "Kinathukkadavil No.10 Muthur Grama Panchayat President, Kurunellipalayam Grama Panchayat 4th Ward Member, Sokkanur Grama Panchayat 1st Ward Member, Nallattipalayam Grama Panchayat 4th Ward Member, Valaikkombu Nagore Grama Panchayat 2nd Ward Member in Anaimalai, Singanallur Grama Panchayat 2nd Ward in Pollachi South, Pollachi North Vadakkipalayam Grama Panchayat 2nd Ward Member and for the post of Perur Chettipalayam Grama Panchayat 1st Ward Member in Thondamuthur, elections will take place as single phase on July 9 from 7 am. to 6 pm. Counting of votes will begin as 8 am on July 12. Further, the last day for filing nominations will be June 27 at 5 pm. Candidate review work will be done on June 28. Withdrawal of nominations can be done till 3 pm on June 30."
It is reported that 11 polling stations will be set up for the election, with five polling officers and eight assistant polling officers appointed.
