Anbumani Ramadoss inaugurates national level badminton championship at Bharathiar University


Tamil Nadu badminton association president and youth-wing president of Pattali Makkal Katchi, Dr. Anbumani Ramadoss inaugurated the National level badminton tournament for the Under 15 age group, today at the Bharathiar University. 

The national level under 15 badminton tournament that began today will conclude on 29th January. This tournament is jointly organised by the Coimbatore badminton association and the Tamil Nadu badminton association. About 1600 players from various states are participating in this national level tournament. Dr. Anbumani Ramadoss, president of Tamil Nadu badminton association inaugurated the event and played a game of badminton with one of the participant.



When speaking to the press he said, “Though there are talented players in Tamil Nadu, lack of facilities like indoor courts, training facilities and physical fitness training are not currently available. To address this issue, the Tamil Nadu badminton association is taking initiatives to improve the infrastructure and training faculties across the state. Details of badminton tournaments are being published in the website to create transparency along with focus of identifying talents' 

He also stated that a petition will be filed with the Tamil Nadu chief minister seeking implementation of state-of-art infrastructural facilities in all the districts for badminton and to allocate land to construct two special training centres in Chennai and Madurai respectively.
