TNAU hosts endowment lecture on 'Farm to Home - Journey of a Maize Kernel' at Coimbatore campus

The Endowment Lecture was held at the TNAU campus on June 20.


Coimbatore: The Department of Food Process Engineering, Agricultural Engineering College and Research Institute, Coimbatore took the lead to organize the endowment lecture on 'Farm to Home: Journey of a Maize Kernel' for the research scholars of TNAU on June 20.



The Vice-Chancellor, V Geethalakshmi, TNAU, Coimbatore presided over the event. A Lakshmanan, Dean (SPGS), TNAU, Coimbatore welcomed the gathering and thanked the Vice-Chancellor for the due consideration given to the proposed industrial tie-up with TNAU technologies at both national and international levels.

V Geethalakshmi, the TNAU Vice-Chancellor in her presidential address highlighted the need for the intervention of post-harvest technologies to process agricultural produce, especially during surplus for high market value and improved consumer acceptance. M Balakrishnan, Professor and Head, Department of Food Process Engineering, AEC&RI, TNAU, Coimbatore highlighted the research achievements of the guest speaker.

R P Kingsley Ambrose, Professor, Purdue University, USA delivered a lecture on the technologies adopted from harvesting of maize to various maize-based products, and his research areas in reducing mechanical damage to maize kernels and dust reduction in processing corn flour.

A Raviraj, Dean, TNAU, Coimbatore proposed the vote of thanks and appreciated the efforts of the Department of Food Process Engineering in organizing the endowment lecture.
