Regular service of 215 seater Airbus 'A-321' between Coimbatore and Sharjah - a positive sign of air traffic picking up pace

An 'A 321' type of aircraft wasn't so common, here. However, this June all the flights operated between Coimbatore - Sharjah were 'Air Bus A 321' -- the narrow body aircraft with 215 seating capacity.

Coimbatore: While industrialists and regular flight users from Coimbatore and adjoining districts are waiting for the Coimbatore international airport to spread its wings wider and host more international flights, the regular service of the 215 seater Airbus 'A-321' between Coimbatore - Sharjah has brought some hope. Earlier, the big narrow body aircraft Airbus 'A 321' which carries 215 passengers was intermittent.

At present, the Coimbatore International airport is providing three international services -- Singapore, Sharjah and Colombo.

While the flight service to Colombo has been temporarily cancelled, owing to the crisis situation in Sri Lanka, the Air Arabia airlines which is providing services between Coimbatore- Sharjah is now operating flights 5 days in a week.

"Until recently, an 'A 320' type of aircraft with a seating capacity of 168 passengers was the maximum high seating capacity aircraft that landed at the Coimbatore Airport. The :A 321' type of aircraft wasn't so common, here. However, this June all the flights operated between Coimbatore - Sharjah were 'Air Bus A 321' -- the narrow body aircraft with 215 seating capacity.

Notably, every flight comes jam packed and leaves from Coimbatore the same way -- with 215 passengers on board. This type of big aircraft which was previously a rare scene at the Coimbatore airport is now now become a regular affair", said Aviation sources.
