In a single day on Saturday, six persons were arrested in connection with the sale of cannabis across Coimbatore district.
Coimbatore: As part of Operation 2.0, the police in Coimbatore are taking serious measures to curb the sale of cannabis and gutka products, banned in Tamil Nadu.
As part of this, the police in Coimbatore district have arrested, prosecuted and imprisoned those involved in the sale of cannabis and gutka products. In a single day on Saturday, six persons were arrested in connection with the sale of cannabis across the Coimbatore district and about 3.35 kg of cannabis was seized from them.
Police arrested Seatton (40) alias Anish for selling cannabis in the Pollachi East police area. Similarly, Ali (54) from Semanampathy, Kerala, was arrested at the Anaimalai police station. Ramkumar (19), of Keeranatham area under Periyanaickenpalayam police boundary, Sulur police also arrested Ravindradas (46) at the Kangeyampalayam check post.
Similarly, Madukkarai police arrested Amarnath for selling cannabis near Echchanari. Also, the Podanur police arrested Thangapandi (39) from Pillaiyarpuram on the Coimbatore Chettipalayam-Echchanari road and seized a pick-up van and cannabis.
Police said 3.35 kg of cannabis was seized from the six men arrested on Saturday.
