The female owner of a massage center and a youth who was employed at a workshop were attacked by youth using a machete in broad daylight in Coimbatore
Coimbatore: Mini hails from the state of Kerala and lives in Singanallur, Coimbatore, and runs an Ayurvedic massage center in Sulur.
While Mini was at her sister-in-law’s house, two youngsters came there asking her to give them a massage. Mini refused them saying that she didn’t offer massage services to males under the age of 30 and that massages are only offered at the center.
Despite her refusal, the two youths persistently argued with her. It is said that they subsequently threatened her, asking for money.
Two years ago, a similar incident took place where a group of youths came and asked her for a massage and then extorted her money and snatched away her cell phone. So Mini, as a precautionary measure, dealt with them at the doorway without letting them enter the house.
The young men tried to force their way into the house, but Mini tried to stop them. Angered by this one of the youngsters took a machete stashed on him and attacked Mini. As Mini started screaming in pain, the youngsters absconded from the scene.
Mini, who sustained injuries to her hand, has been admitted to hospital. Based on the complaint lodged by Mini, the Singanallur police led by Inspector Arun registered a case and searched for the culprits.
In an another case, Ravikumar, an employee at a workshop in Peelamedu was attacked with a machete by intoxicated men who tried to take off with his cell phone. A case was registered based on this and the Peelamedu police were searching for the culprit.
