750 kg of banned Gutka items seized by in Periyanayakanpalayam, Coimbatore

Periyanayakanpalayam police arrested 4 persons who sold banned gutka products in Coimbatore and seized 750 kg of banned gutka products worth 7.50 lakhs from them.


Coimbatore: Operation 2.0 is in full swing to curb the circulation of cannabis and gutka products in Tamil Nadu. In this situation, the Periyanayakanpalayam police received information that some unidentified persons were supplying Gutka products banned by the Tamil Nadu government to shops in the vicinity of Periyanayakanpalayam in the Coimbatore district.

Following this, the police led by the task force Assistant Inspector Jayaprakash patrolled near the Attipalayam junction. The Police spotted a young man delivering Gutka products to a shop there at the time. The youth was arrested and interrogated by the police, post which it was revealed that he was Ram (24) from Rajasthan.



Also, when his car was searched by the police it came to light that it contained Gutka products. It was learned that he along with his friends Gopal Kumar (24), Jagadish Patel, and Bharath Patel from Rajasthan were targeting grocery stores and selling Gutka products in the vicinity. Subsequent investigations revealed that he had been selling such products in Kumaraguru Nagar near Saravanampatti.

Following this, the police arrested the four and confiscated 750 kg of Gutka items worth about Rs 7.50 lakh from them. They also confiscated two cars and a two-wheeler used by them to transport the banned gutka products for sale. Police furthermore confiscated two mobile phones from them.
