Karthik, a 26-year-old ABVP executive from Coimbatore and a BJP supporter had posted provocative comments on his Facebook page in support of Nupur Sharma's defamatory comments on Prophet Muhammad and hence was arrested.
Coimbatore: A Coimbatore-based ABVP youth has been arrested by the Cyber Crime Police for posting on Facebook in support of former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma who is in the eye of a storm for making offensive remarks against Prophet Muhammad.
Islamist groups have been fighting in various states for the arrest of Nupur Sharma, a former BJP spokesman who made defamatory remarks about the Prophet Muhammad.
Meanwhile, Karthik (26), an ABVP executive from Coimbatore Sennanur and a BJP supporter had posted provocative comments in support of Nupur Sharma on his Facebook page but after a while had deleted the posts. The District Cyber Crime Police who registered a case against Karthik arrested him overnight, produced him in Court and remanded him in custody.
