Coimbatore: Even as the recent controversy on BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma's defamatory remarks about the Prophet led to an eruption of protests across Arab nations, Islamist groups across India have also been protesting and condemning those who made defamatory remarks, including Nupur Sharma, and demanding their immediate arrests.
The TMMK activists besieged the Coimbatore railway station and staged a protest, condemning the Uttar Pradesh Government and demanding its dissolution.
The activists also tried to break through the barriers and enter the train station.
A struggle ensued between the police and the protesters thereafter.
The protesters were subsequently detained and arrested by the police.
Meanwhile, some of the activists managed too enter the railway station and tried to block the train, causing a commotion inside the railway station. They were also arrested by the Railway Police.
