5 men who tried to hunt a wild boar in the Mangarai forest area near Sethumadai in the Pollachi forest area were arrested and their weapons confiscated.
Coimbatore: Ganesan, a worker at a farm in Pollachi informed forest officials that explosions were heard in the Mangarai forest area near Sethumadai in the Pollachi forest area.
Following this tip-off, forest department officials stopped a car that was entering through the Gandur Canal.

A thorough search of the car revealed that there were weapons in the car, including a gun and knives.

The passengers of the car were suspected to be poachers and were identified as Mohan Sundaram (44), Balasubramaniam (41), Satish (41), Rajkumar (49) of Kinathukadavu, and Satish Kumar (29) of Pollachi. They were interrogated and arrested by the forest officials. During the course of the investigation, the men admitted that they went into the forest, tried to hunt a wild boar and used two bullets for the same.
Later, forest officials registered a case and confiscated firearms, ammunition and knives from the men. All the five arrested men are being produced in Court and are being remanded in custody.
