Thenkailaya Bhakti Peravai embarks on cleanliness drive in Velliangiri Hills

500 sacks of plastics and other trash were collected during the annual clean-up drive in Velliangiri Hills, spearheaded by volunteers from Thenkailaya Bhakti Peravai.


Coimbatore: An annual clean-up drive was carried out in the Velliangiri hills to clear the debris and plastic left behind by tourists and locals.

Located in the Poondi area of Coimbatore, the clean-up drive aimed to preserve the cleanliness and sanctity of the mountain. The clean-up operation was carried out on May 15, 22, 29, and June 5 on behalf of the Thenkailaya Bhakti Peravai cadres.



More than 350 Isha volunteers and devotees from various cities including Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore and Mumbai also participated in the drive.

On June 5 to mark World Environment Day, students of KPR College of Engineering, Arasur also participated in the cleanliness drive. In addition to cleaning the hill, the volunteers also raised awareness of the ongoing Save Soil Movement. They collected a total of about 500 sacks of plastic and other trash.



The Forest Department ably supported the volunteers right through the cleanliness drive.
