Wild elephants rampage private farm in Perur causing damage to crops and house

A herd of wild elephants entered a private farm in Coimbatore, damaging crops and tearing down the walls of a house.


Coimbatore: A herd of four wild elephants invaded the agricultural land owned by Damodaran near Kuttai Thottam, in TT Palayam village, in Perur, Coimbatore at midnight and damaged crops as well as destroyed the walls and doors of the house.



Damodar's household utensils were also damaged even as people ran helter-skelter inside the house.



Locals immediately informed the Forest Department but the herd disappeared even before the staff arrived. The elephants reportedly destroyed the walls of the house and then headed toward the forest in the wee hours of Monday morning.



Farmers and locals in Perur area in a state of panic and fear owing to the rampage of the elephants.
