Kerala youth touring Valparai dies drowning in river

A young tourist from Kerala drowned and died while bathing in the river as his foot got stuck between rocks.


Coimbatore: Tourists come from various places to see the Valparai area of the Coimbatore district. Here they enjoy bathing and playing in the pebble river.

Mansoor and his wife, who were working abroad from Thalassery, Kerala, came to Valparai last evening with two children and their relatives.



They stayed at a private hotel and enjoyed a swim in the river at the Nallakathu Estate near Valparai this afternoon. Mansoor jumped into the water to bathe in the river. Unable to get out as his foot got stuck in between rocks in the water, he drowned in front of his family and died.



The Police and the firefighters then arrived at the spot and searched for his body. Unable to locate his body they called on Kalaiswaran who was engaged in the task of retrieving the bodies that drown in water. His body was later retrieved by Kalaiswaran and sent to the Valparai Hospital for autopsy.

The people in the surrounding areas are quite shaken up about this tragic incident.
