Coimbatore: The first meeting after Pratap Murugan took charge as the new Commissioner of Coimbatore was held yesterday under the chairmanship of Mayor Kalpana Ananthakumar.
It was a review meeting for development works held at the Northern Regional Office of the Corporation under the chairmanship of the Northern Regional Chairman V. Kathirvell.
20 councilors from the participating Northern Territories demanded a solution to the pending problems in their ward areas.
Among them, road repairs, drinking water, and garbage disposal were often talked about as major problems. The corporation commissioner, who heard their demands, promised that the potholes in the roads would be fixed soon.
Speaking on the occasion, 11th Ward DMK Councilor Siva (A) Palanichamy said that no garbage disposal work was being done in his ward and the concerned authorities were not listening to them.
He said, "If this situation continues, I will not be able to respond to the people. Indefinite delay causes severe stress. If this situation continues, I will resign from my post,”. This came as a shock to all the participants.
