Ambedkar and Karunanidhi's Birthday - Coimbatore Collector presents prizes to winners of speech contests

Speech contests for the Coimbatore district school and college students were held on April 19 and June 3 to mark the birthdays of social reformer Ambedkar and former Chief Minister Kalaignar Karunanidhi


Coimbatore: The Coimbatore District Collector presented prizes and certificates to the students who won the speech competition held on the eve of Ambedkar and former TN CM Karunanidhi's birthday.



Speech contests for the Coimbatore district school and college students were held on April 19 and June 3 to mark the birthdays of Annal Ambedkar and former Chief Minister Kalaignar Karunanidhi, based on a grant request from the Tamil Development Department.

The Coimbatore District Collector GS Sameeran presented the prize money and certificates of appreciation at the Coimbatore District Collectorate meeting to the 11 winning students.

Accordingly, PSC Sarvajana High School 10th class student Vishal won the first prize, Coimbatore Textile Merchants Association Government Girls 'High School 11th class student Ashavi Kasini won the second prize, and PSCO Krishnammal Girls' High School ninth class student Iniyaval won the third prize.

In addition, Trishala, a ninth-grade student from Ponnakani Government High School and Gayathri, a class XI student from Vellalore Government High School received special prizes for government school students.

Similarly, in the speech competition for college students, Sumitra, a student of Government Law College, won the first prize, Arthi, a student of Dr. NGP College of Arts and Sciences, won the second prize and Robin Joshua, a student of Sri Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya College of Arts and Sciences, won the third prize.



In the speech competition for college students held on the occasion of Kalaignar Karunanidhi's birthday, Sharmila, a second-year student at the Mettupalayam Government College of Arts and Sciences student Sharmila won first prize, Deepak, a third-year student at Kongunadu College of Arts and Sciences won the second prize, and Pragati, a student pursuing her doctoral dissertation in the Nirmala College of Women (Mathematics) received the third prize.

The Coimbatore District Collector presented checks of Rs.5000 for the first prize, Rs.3,000 for the second prize, Rs.2000 for the third prize and Rs.2000 for the special prize for Government School students.

The event was attended by Bhuvaneswari, Deputy Director, Tamil Development Department, and several government officials.
