4-year-old boy dies after being bitten by poisonous snake near Sethumadai in Coimbatore

The 4-year-old son of a daily wage labourer died after being bitten by a snake when he was playing on a farm near his house in Sethumadai, Coimbatore.


Coimbatore: Ganesan (40) hails from the Annaparai Mannam area in Sethumadai, next to Pollachi in Coimbatore District. He has been working as a daily wage labourer and has a son called Harinesh who is four years old.

The boy appears to have been playing on the farm near the house on Wednesday evening. When he went to pick up a ball lying on the ground, a poisonous snake reportedly bit Harinesh's toe.

Following this, the boy fainted. People nearby who witnessed the incident rescued the boy and rushed him to the Pollachi Government Hospital. Doctors at the hospital who examined the boy stated that he had been brought dead.
