Mayor inaugurates construction of overhead water reservoir and inspects construction of roads

Mayor Kalpana Ananthakumar performed Bhoomipooja and inaugurated the Construction of an Overhead Reservoir and inspected the construction of a road in the east zone of Coimbatore.



Coimbatore: Mayor Kalpana Anandkumar performed Bhoomi pooja and inaugurated the construction work of the drinking water overhead tank valued at Rs.2.5 crore at the Coimbatore Corporation Central Zone, Ward No.65, Sivaram Nagar, today.



The Commissioner of the Corporation, M. Prathap IAS, and the Deputy Mayor, R. Vetriselvan were at the forefront of this event.



She personally inspected the quality of the 2.96 km long road constructed at the cost of 528.35 lakhs Under the 745PM scheme at the Eastern Zone Ward Nos.32 and 37 from the Thaneer Pandhal Road - Maheshwari Nagar Junction to the Vilankurichi Bridge.

Speaking about this, she said “For now, the road has been constructed for 2.3 km. The road is set to be constructed from Maheshwari nagar to Vilankurichi – 2.9km. There are currently 27 drinking water projects and the construction of a gas pipeline by the Indian Oil Corporation to be completed within a week and brought to public use” She further instructed the engineers to finish the work quickly without compromising on quality.



During the event, Central Zone Chairman Meenaloku, Eastern Zone Chairman Ilakkumi Ilanchelvikarthik, Tasks Committee Chairman Chandimurugan, Zonal Assistant Commissioners Sankar, Marichelvi, Assistant Town Planning Officer Jayalakshmi, Acting Council Member Sundarajan, Assistant Engineer, Ramesh and other Corporation Officers were present.
