According to the order from the Chennai High Court, Revenue officials removed encroachments from a public road in the Arjuna Colony area of Rotigaundanur, Thirumalayanpalayam, Coimbatore.
Coimbatore: In the area where various apartments are located in Arjuna Colony area of Rotigaundanur, Thirumalayanpalayam in Coimbatore, Lourdes Mary has been building a small house for the past year and a half.
At this point, Rajammal and Rathna from the same area blocked the public road leading to her house and occupied the public road by building barns and dumping concrete waste.
The people of the area have been demanding the removal of the waste from the public road but both Rajammal and Rathna reportedly did not heed to demands. Following this, a case was filed at the Chennai High Court on behalf of Lourdes Mary.
The judge, upon hearing the case, ordered the Revenue Department to immediately demolish the buildings obstructing the road leading to Lourdes Mary's house.
Following this, with the protection of more than 10 policemen led by Madukkarai Inspector Vairam, the Madukkarai Tahsildar demolished all the encroachments through Poclain on Wednesday, with several other Revenue officials present. Police security has been beefed up at the area for five days.
