Murderous attack on Coimbatore businessman – CCTV footage causes a flutter

CCTV footage of a gang of 10 chasing and attacking a businessman regarding land dispute in Coimbatore has caused quite the stir.

Coimbatore: Karthikeyan (42) hails from the Ganapathy Alumelumangapuram area of Coimbatore. He runs a motor pump company in Ganapathy Ramakrishnapuram. Balakrishnan, who runs a real estate business in the same area, and Karthikeyan have been known to have a land dispute. Balakrishnan is said to have similar disputes with many others residing in the same area.

Multiple complaints have been lodged regarding this at the Saravanampatti police station. Fourteen months ago, when Balakrishnan tried to help Ramachandran, a bottle cap trader, set up a company on the land owned by Karthikeyan, a dispute arose between them.

Following this, Balakrishnan and Ramachandran had gathered about 75 people in two trucks and at around 2 am, broke into Karthikeyan’s godown and started unloading Ramachandran’s products.

Learning of this, Karthikeyan went there and questioned Balakrishnan and Ramachandran about this, leading to another dispute. The dispute got out of hand. Enraged, Balakrishnan and Ramachandran picked up metal rods from the ground and brutally attacked Karthikeyan with them.

Karthikeyan was hit in the head and was bleeding profusely. Then, the mob arranged by Balakrishnan and Ramachandran chased and attacked Karthikeyan. Karthikeyan, who rushed to the Vilankurichi road all beaten up and bloody, was then rescued by the bystanders and rushed to the Coimbatore government hospital.

Upon learning of this, the Saravanampatti police arrived at the scene and the mob fled, leaving behind the lorry and supplies they had been carrying. Police have registered a case against Balakrishnan, Ramachandran and eight others following a complaint lodged by the injured Karthikeyan at the Saravanampatti police station and are searching for the culprits.

The Saravanampatti police, learning about this, rushed to the spot. But the mob had already absconded, leaving behind all their things.

Police have registered a case against Balakrishnan, Ramachandran and eight others following a complaint lodged by the heavily injured Karthikeyan at the Saravanampatti police station and are looking for the culprits.

Scenes of this murderous attack on Karthikeyan have also surfaced on social media platforms and have caused quite the stir in Coimbatore.

Over the past few days, clashes and riots within the jurisdiction of the Saravanampatti police station have left people in the area in a state of panic.
