Youth attempts to chain snatch from a 25-year-old IT employee – caught by onlookers and arrested by the police
Coimbatore: Mariappan's daughter Divya (25) is from the Kiranatham area of Coimbatore. She is working in an IT company based in Chennai. Divya, who is currently working from home, was traveling on her two-wheeler on the Kiranatham-Sarakulam road Thursday.
Then a mysterious person on another two-wheeler kicked Divya's two-wheeler, following which Divya stumbled and fell. The mysterious offender threatened Divya with a knife, snatched a chain worth 2 sovereigns she was wearing around her neck, and tried to escape.
Shaken up by the incident, Divya started screaming. Taking notice of this the onlookers caught the mysterious person who was in pursuit of absconding from the scene. The onlookers beat him up and handed him over to the Kovilpalayam Police.
The police, post-investigation, confirmed that the mysterious offender was Aravindan (23) of Balaji Nagar, Nallampalayam, Coimbatore. Following this, the police produced Aravindan in court and jailed him for the offenses he committed.
