A 70-year-old retired railway employee was killed when a speeding truck carrying cylinders collided with his two-wheeler near Kinathukadavu, Arasampalayam section
Coimbatore: Shanmugam, 70, of Diwanshah Puthur Kalyana Mandapam Road near Pollachi in Coimbatore district, is a retired railway employee. His son Mani (42), who is a resident at the Sulur Indian Air Force flat near Coimbatore, was constructing a new house. Shanmugam rode his moppet from Diwanshah Pudur to visit the house his son was building.
When approaching the Arasampalayam section on the Kinathukkadavu-Coimbatore four-way road a speeding truck, carrying cooking cylinders, collided with the bike from the rear. Shanmugam was seriously injured in the accident and died on the spot.
Upon learning about this, the Kinathukadavu Police Inspector Senthil Kumar and Sub-Inspector Karuppasamy Pandian arrived at the spot. Shanmugam's body was recovered and sent to the Pollachi Government Hospital for autopsy. Following this, the Kinathukkadavu police have registered a case against Ramasamy from the Kurunalli Palayam area near Kinathukkadavu, who was driving the truck.
