Coimbatore: A case has been registered against a senior factory assistant in Coimbatore's Aavin unit after the Coimbatore District Anti-Corruption Police seized bribe money from his desk and car at the Aavin campus in Pachapalayam.
The Coimbatore District Cooperative Milk Producers Union (Aavin) is located at Pachapalayam next to Perur in Coimbatore District. In the wake of complaints that 20 temporary employees in Aavin had bribed some higher officials in Aavin for permanent employment, the Coimbatore District Anti-Corruption Police led by Additional SP Divya, conducted a surprise raid on Aavin's company unit on Monday evening. The police orchestrated a thorough raid on the campus, including the General Manager's room, the Manager's room, the officers' room and Aavin products.
The raid lasted until midnight. During the raid, the police seized Rs.2.50 lakh from the office desk of A Krishnamurthy, a senior factory assistant working at Aavin, and 5.90 lakh from his car, with the total amounting to Rs.8.40 lakh. A Krishnamurthy was then interrogated by the police to explain his possession of Rs.8.40 lakh. However, since Krishnamurthy failed to offer a proper explanation for the amount that was seized from his desk and car, it was discovered that he had been receiving bribes from employees. Following this, the police confiscated the amount.
Krishnamurthy, a senior factory assistant, is now being prosecuted by the Anti-Corruption Police under the Anti-Corruption Act in connection with the seizing of unaccounted money.
