Coimbatore: The All India Youth Federation (AIYF) protested in front of the BSNL office, near the District Collectorate in Coimbatore pressing for various demands.

"90 percent priority should be given to Tamil Nadu youth in Central Government posts in Tamil Nadu, Tamil Nadu Government posts should be given exclusively to Tamil Nadu youth, vacancies in Central Government departments should be completely filled and Bhagat Singh National Employment Guarantee Act should be passed," demanded the AIYF protesters.

Other demands by the AIYF were that the age limit for retiring civil servants should be raised to 58, the reservation law in the private sector should be passed, temporary and contract-free employment should be made permanent, interest-free loans should be provided to young people to start small businesses, the minimum monthly wage should be Rs.20,000 and equal opportunities must be given to women.

The agitation was held underlining various demands including guaranteeing equal pay for work and cracking down on those who secure jobs through forged certificates.
