Two women were killed and four others were injured in a head-on collision between two cars on Udumalai Road near Palladam.


Tiruppur: Two cars collided head-on at Udumalai Road near Palladam in Tirupur, leaving two dead and four injured.

Rajendran was traveling in a Maruti 800 car from Udumalai in Tirupur district with his cousins Jayanthi, Sulochana, Sushila and Kamala. Ramesh was traveling in a car from Tirupur headed towards Udumalaipettai with his 12-year-old son Gokul. Both cars collided head-on at Udumalai Road Pulliyappampalayam, near Palladam, killing Sushila and Kamala on the spot.



Locals who witnessed the accident rescued those who were fighting for their lives trapped in the wreckage of the car and rushed them to Palladam Government Hospital and another private hospital for treatment. Jayanthi and Sulochana are receiving treatment at the Palladam Government Hospital. Gokul, Ramesh and Rajendran were administered first-aid and then sent to a private hospital in Coimbatore for further treatment.

Palladam police are investigating the incident.
