The petitioners have requested food safety officials to inspect all shops in Coimbatore which are selling such soft drinks and to seal all such shops along with imposition of fines.
Lotus Manikandan, leader of the Hindustan Makkal Sevai Movement along with other cadres filed a petition seeking action against sellers of expired soft drinks.
According to the petitioners, expired soft drinks are being sold for Rs.10 in various petty shops and hotel shops. Since this could cause allergies in children and adults, the petitioners have requested food safety officials to inspect all shops in Coimbatore which are selling such soft drinks, and seal all such shops along with imposition of fines.
