A gradual upsurge in the number of Covid cases was witnessed across Tamil Nadu and the state accounts for 304 cases.

More than 10 fresh new cases have been reported in the city for consecutive days in the current week.

Dr. Sharmila, Deputy Commissioner, CCMC told Simplicity that "about 320 test samples are being carried out every day, all of which are sent to Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital for the lab tests ".

"Actions to increase the testing are underway. Once the main areas are identified special teams will be sent to enforce Covid protocol in the zone to prevent further spread” she said.

“About 18 Covid- positive cases have been reported in the City through the random testing carried out till March 16”," she noted.

“Health camps including mobile camps and special medical camps will be conducted in vulnerable particular areas to control the spread of the disease. Regular health camps are progressing across all areas irrespective of any specific disease to ensure public health” she said.

“In addition, she noted that mandatory RT-PCR test is carried out for families and those in contact with the current patients. Home isolation is prescribed for those with subtle symptoms and patients with severe respiratory illness are hospitalized” she said.

"The public is requested to take all precautions by wearing masks, maintaining social distancing, and observing public instructions," Dr. Sharmila noted.
