Tirupur: During the summer season, the demand for bajra-based food items, including camphor increases and farmers get a good price.



Bajra is widely cultivated in Udumalai and Gudimangalam areas and getting ready for harvesting.



The Agriculture Department opines, "In well irrigation, hybrid seeds of Coimbatore Agricultural University are widely used. Bajra also thrives in areas with low water and soil fertility. Bajra contains more nutrients than other cereals. It can also be used as cattle feed. Therefore, even in the middle of the day, the farmers perform this ritual."
