Khadkaan (Hoshiarpur): Close on the heels of Prime Minister Narendra Modi breaking his silence on cow vigilantism, Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal broke his silence on the issue on Tuesday, saying that stern action would be taken against those who violate the law on the pretext of 'gau raksha' (cow protection). "Dairy farming is an allied agriculture activity which is supplementing the income of farmers in a big way. This allied farming activity which involves cattle rearing and trading should not be discouraged at any cost," the CM said while speaking to journalists on the sidelines of a 'sangat darshan' (community visit) programme in Khadkaan village of Hoshiarpur on Tuesday. Replying to another query, the CM said the attack on RSS leader Brigadier Rakesh Gagneja was not an ordinary law and order problem, and it was a deep-rooted conspiracy. He said forces behind the attack would be exposed soon as police were inquiring into the issue.
