BizCity: The women in our world

This isn’t a dedication. Not even a memoir. Just plain truth, triggered by a conversation with one of my good Lady friends in business.

This isn’t a dedication. Not even a memoir. Just plain truth, triggered by a conversation with one of my good Lady friends in business.

It made me wonder, when she responded the way she did for a request. She was to Chair a session on Women’s day. She simply said she does not believe in celebrating Women’s day.

Well it did strike me then. It’s the Men who should celebrate Women in their lives. And not just a day or even a Year, it should be forever - anytime, anywhere. Women make us what we are and will be, adding more than moral, emotional, physical and many times fiscal support too. They are of immense and irreplaceable value to us, who deserve all the respect in the World.

Let me do it in a small way I could. It doubles my celebrations as I was gifted to have a Wonder Woman for a better half on the same day (Women’s day) some couple of decades ago. Given the successes Our Women have achieved on their own, it’s time they come alongside rather behind. Success comes naturally to Men who synergise with Women in their lives. Some of them are:

Mother, rose before and slept after till such time she was alive. She took the responsibility to nurture us, irrespective of age or status - Child is always a Child for Her. We blossomed, studying & working well due to her care, much more than love & affection, bearing with all our tantrums and correcting them when required.

Aunts, are Mothers from extended Family. Who continued nurturing us after our Mother. Encouragement and Belongingness knew no bounds, embracing us as their own. They taught us the importance of giving, without expecting.

Teachers, was fortunate to have Lovely Humans quite early in life who were much more than just Teachers. Time gained with them during formative years made us realise what is expected of us as Men. Discipline to respect Women as much more than equals began with them.

Cousins & Nieces, were integral part of growing up born into large Family. Fun & Frolic apart, good values got instilled in us through these wonderful relations. Irrespective of age &relationship, they were friends, brothers, sisters, sons & daughters. In the age of Watsupp and Facebook, bonding has only grown stronger.

Friends & Classmates, performed and helped us perform better just by demonstrating they are equal to us, if not superior. It’s from them the Confidence came in to embrace a Professional for a Spouse.

Spouse, more than equal who continues to make us Succeed both as Human first and then as Professionals. Being a fellow pro, her dedication and commitment to both Family & Profession rubs on us very positively.

In Laws, have a few Wonderful Women who became part of the Family through Marriage. They were not mere relations, but successful Pros on their own excelling in respective professions. They were the ones responsible for academic excellence of both self & children.

Daughter, one on own and some adopted. Joy they bring in is beyond words. In fact, they show us how good we are, more than a Parent. Social recognition gained through their success make one feel proud and take pride in. Responsibilities are shared and they give us confidence that our future is in safe hands, helping us mature and age gracefully.

Colleagues, make us feel better through their commitment, performance and contribution, mostly better than male counterparts. No wonder they continue to excel both as Home Makers & as Professionals. They bring in the required balance into the Organisation.

Students & Mentees, many of whom who have become part of our life like our own Children. Have the privilege of tutoring some of the best Pros in their respective fields, who are natural torch bearers of our identity & image.

Said above is just little. As I began writing this piece, realised how important and beautiful Women are in our lives. Simply, such Wonderfulness cannot be captured in Words.  I repeat. Life is interesting because we share our space with some of the Best Creations in the World - The Women in our Lives.
