' The Ramgarh Literary Festival ' is the most recent book of author Vasudev Murthy. The author had done his schooling in Delhi and Bengaluru. He went to the USA after his graduation from IIT Roorkee. An MS in computer science from Florida was followed by an MBA from Texas. He returned to India in after spending 10 years in the USA.

" My love for music was accompanied by a desire to spend time with my parents. Therefore, I returned to India. I have been keeping myself busy with my work and literary activities. I simply love music and let me tell you something, music elevates a person while adding to his or her humility." stated Vasudev Murthy the multi faceted author.

Vasudev Murthy is very passionate about Animal Rights. Dogs and other animals are sacred for him. He cremates stray dogs and immerses their ashes in the Cauvery. He helps abandoned animals by getting them a permanent care. Vasudev Murthy has 6 dogs in his home at Bengaluru. " These dogs are my companions and they have a good life at home. I like being with them. Sometimes I feel that these animals are superior. In fact my first book was on Animal Rights but it has not been published as yet. I want to revive it and leave it as a legacy, " added Vasudev Murthy.

A chat with the author is sure to make a person lighter. He is very open and frank. His approach is absolutely hilarious. ' What the Raags told me ' was the first book to get published. Rupa was the publisher. It is a novel were Ragas are personified. A total of 22 Ragas are in the repertoire. The guy in the book adds a tanpura to his meditation. Vasudev Murthy has done an interesting interpretation of the Ragas. He states that the Raga Jinjoti is one for memories. He further goes on by sharing nuggets about Raga Bhairavi. Vasudev Murthy calls it an all consuming Raga and is of the opinion that anything else will be feeble after one experiences it.

Vasudev Murthy's other book ' Effective Proposal Writing ' fits his profile. He is a management consultant who works on leadership development. This book works on a specialized area. The book ' How Organizations Really Work ' is also written by him. It talks about a complete analysis. Vasudev Murthy has one more unpublished book. Its titled ' My father's tanpura '. Once again 22 Ragas feature in this book too. It is about the daughter of a lover of music who gets married into a family which is not interested in music. One day, the lady goes to sell her father's house and she finds her father's tanpura. She remembers her father's statement about 22 Ragas. The book is in a woman's voice. Its really niche.

A collection of 30 short stories is also part of the repertoire. Its titled ' The Time Merchants & Other Strange Tales '. Once can get to read about time being bought and sold as a commodity in one of the stories. The books ' The Curious Adventures of Sherlock Holmes In Japan ' and ' Sherlock Holmes, the Missing Years : Timbuktu ' are thought provoking. Vasudev Murthy has attempted something different. He has tried to follow the writing style of the original creator Sir Arthur Conan Doyle in these books. Holmes comes to India and Vasudev's exposure to Japanese had really helped. The book has been translated into Japanese and Portugese. " Sherlock Holmes goes missing after an incident connected with Professor Moriarty and the author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle brings him back on popular demand. The publisher Barbara Peters at Poisoned Pen works only on crime connected books and she worked with me on this one, “ added Vasudev Murthy.

The latest book ‘ The Ramgarh Literary Festival ‘ is really fun. It is written in first person and people “ A flight of fantasy is always interesting. Life is stranger than fiction. Each of my books have a germ of truth and the rest gets created, “ chuckled the author.

The latest book was written in 2014 and was published by Harper Collins in 2019. Vasudev Murthy leads the reader into an imaginary literary festival and there is tie up with a pakoda company in the story. There are more people on stage than in the audience. The God forsaken location and the entire drama adds a lot of colour. Vasudev Murthy furthers the drama by making the statement ‘ To my author and Publisher friends. I hope you’ ll forgive me if you recognise yourself in the book at the opening page. This is sure to impel the reader further. The incidents, discussions, travel, food and interactions which are part of the festival make the book a worthy and joyful read. It’s funny to see the pink donkey on the wrapper while a black one supports the design.

Coimbatore based reader Jagannathan is keen to invite Vasudev Murthy for a chat with the readers of Coimbatore.
