Facebook is experimenting with a new feature that looks very similar to a feature on twitter.
Facebook is always adding new features to keep its audience happy so that they stay on the website and app for longer. In doing so, the social networking giant sometimes develops features that are very similar to its rivals.
A recent update had a Snapchat-like feature added to Facebook. Now, the company seems to have mimicked a feature from Twitter.
The new feature is reportedly called “What friends are talking about” and Facebook plans to use it to get more conversations started. This new feature will collect the most recent posts from a friend's timeline and places it at the top of your Newsfeed. Similar to Twitter in which tweets from a user that you interact with the most are displayed first.
Currently, the feature is still in testing phase and has only been spotted on smartphones running the Android version of the app, but it is likely also being tested on iOS and desktop.
This feature is being tested beside a new Newsfeed algorithm which Facebook says will deliver more informative content to users. Considering that the feature is still being tested, it remains unclear when the feature will be rolling out to users. The company could also discard the feature if the response during the testing phase is not favourable.
