NEW DELHI: Chinese tech firm Huawei has confirmed that it will be rolling out Android 8.0 Oreo update to its two handsets - Mate 9 and P10. As reported by GSM Arena, the first models to receive Android O will be the Mate 9 and the Mate 9 Pro. Huawei P10 and the P10 Plus smartphones will receive the upgrade "in the near future".
Huawei has confirmed that its EMUI 8.0 based on Android 8.0 Oreo will include the faster launching of apps along with better power allocation. According to the report, the performance improvement increased by 12% as compared to previous versions.
The interface after Android 8.0 Oreo will also be able to open apps in split-screen mode, given the app is compatible. What is said to be missing from the Huawei Mate 9 is the real-time smart scene camera feature. No major design changes in the UI are expected.
It is worth adding that Huawei has not launched its Mate 9 and the P10 smartphones in India yet.
Huawei's recently launched Mate 10, Mate 10 Pro and the Mate 10 Pro Porsche Design come with Android 8.0 Oreo out-of-the-box.
The Mate 10 and the Mate 10 Pro sports near-bezel less display and are the company's answer to Apple's iPhone X.
The Huawei Mate 10 Pro is priced at EUR 699 (roughly Rs. 53,400) and will go on sale from November in several countries including Australia, Singapore, Spain, and Mexico. The Huawei Mate 10 Pro is priced at EUR 799 (roughly Rs. 61,000) and will be up for grabs starting November. The Chinese smartphone maker also unveiled a Porsche Design Huawei Mate 10, which is priced at EUR 1,395 (roughly Rs 1,06,600). There's no word on the India launch date of either of the smartphones.
