Bajaj Auto has officially announced the launch of its new Platina ComforTec that features LED daylight running light (DRL). The bike also gets a redesigned analog instrument cluster and it is already available at the dealerships across the country with a price tag of Rs 46,656 (ex-showroom Delhi).
The new Bajaj Platina ComforTec is the second motorcycle in the 100-110cc segment to get the LED DRL after the TVS Victor. However, the Platina is the most affordable bike in the country with this feature.
The new feature eliminated the requirement of Automatic Headlamp On (AHO) that consumes more power from the battery by keeping the headlight always on. The company claims that LED light saves around 88 per cent power that is drawn from the battery with the AHO feature.
Commenting on the launch, Eric Vas, President Motorcycle Business, Bajaj Auto, said "With the introduction of this upgraded Platina ComforTec, we have made a superior product even better. There is no mechanical update in the motorcycle and it retains the same 102cc DTS-i engine that comes mated to a four-speed gearbox. The carbureted motor makes 7.9PS and a torque of 8.3Nm, and claims to return a fuel efficiency of over 100kmpl.
Bajaj also claims that the new ComforTec technology of the new Platina reduces 20 per cent jerks compared to other motorcycles in its segment.
The Bajaj Platina is available in a single trim option with electric start and alloy as standard. The bike comes with two colour options -- black and red -- and competes with the likes of the Hero HF Deluxe, TVS Sport, Honda CD 110 Dream and the Yamaha Saluto RX.
