NEW DELHI: HMD Global, the company that holds the license to manufacture Nokia branded smartphones, is all set to launch its next smartphone in India. The company is all geared up to launch the Nokia 8 in the country. The company has started sending out media invites for the launch event scheduled for September 26, where it will unveil the device.
The invite reads, 'unveiling of the next milestone of Nokia Phone'.
The company launched the Nokia 8 globally last month. The smartphone runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system and features a 5.3-inch QHD display with 1440x2560 pixels resolution. The device is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor paired with 4GB of RAM. It offers 64GB of internal storage which can be expanded up to 256GB by adding a microSD card.
The Nokia 8 comes with a dual rear camera setup powered by Carl Zeiss optics. It sports two 13MP modules at the rear end. While the first lens shoots coloured shots with OIS, the secondary rear camera shoots in monochrome. The primary camera has an aperture of f/2.0 along with PDAF and dual-tone flash. Nokia 8 is also the company's first to come with Nokia OZO audio, which is a 360-degree audio technology for better multimedia experience. The cameras can also capture videos in 4K resolution. At the front, there is a 13MP camera with f/2.0 aperture and display flash.
One of the most talked features of the device is 'Bothie' or Dual-Sight mode, which makes use of both front and rear cameras to show both angles on the screen. People can use this feature to live stream on YouTube and Facebook Live as well.
Measuring 151.5x73.7x7.9mm, the smartphone is backed by a 3090mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge support. In terms of connectivity, it offers 4G, VoLTE, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS and NFC.
