Tata Motors launches compact SUV Nexon at Rs 5.87 lakh

Tata Motors on Thursday launched its new subcompact SUV - the Nexon. The starting price of the model is Rs 5.85 lakh for the base petrol variant and it goes up to Rs 9.45 lakh for the top-spec diesel trim (both ex-showroom, Delhi).

The sub-four metre SUV is available in five variants - XE, XM, XT, XZ and XZ+ - and two engine options - a 1.2-litre Revetron petrol and a 1.5-litre Revotorq diesel. The car is available in five colour options - blue, red, silver, grey and white.

Both the 110PS/170Nm petrol and the all-new 110PS/260Nm diesel motors come mated to a six-speed manual gearbox, while the AMT option is expected to be introduced soon.

Featuring a flowing, urban design, the Tata Nexon gets a multi-shade cabin loaded with segment-first features like eight-speaker Harman 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto, voice commands, message readout and reply. It also receives projector headlamps, front centre armrest with sliding tambour door storage and smart key with push-button start (wearable wrist band) among the other key features.

In the highly competitive Indian market, the Tata Nexon competes with the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Creta, Ford Ecosport and the Renault Duster.
